Our staff have extensive experience in all areas of architectural acoustics including commercial, residential, education and healthcare buildings.
We work collaboratively with architects, designers and contractors to create buildings that achieve excellent performance in the following areas:
• Room acoustics
• Airborne & Impact sound insulation

Our services in architectural acoustics cover measurement, schematic & detailed design, specification, site supervision and commissioning.
Building Acoustics Projects
Acoustic consultancy services on the £15 million development plan to modernise Paediatric hospital services across the Southern Trust. This comprised new £8 million purpose built centre of excellence at Daisy Hill Hospital and a £7 million upgrade to paediatric services at Craigavon Area Hospital. Full BREEAM Pol 05 and Hea 05 assessments were undertaken at both sites inclusive of internal sound insulation and room acoustics review as well as an assessment of noise emissions from the new facilities to the surrounding residential areas. Both schemes are to be completed at the end of 2017.
We are currently working with Sammon/Carillion Joint Venture on the PPP Schools Bundle 5 contract. The schemes comprises six Primary, Post Primary and Institute of Further Education buildings across four sites in Bray, Carlow, Kells and Wexford.
All buildings are designed in accordance with the Department of Education & Skills technical guidance document TGD-021-5 regarding sound insulation, rooms acoustic and external noise break-in to teaching areas and multi-purpose halls.
The Institute of Further Education also comprises extensive music performance, practice and recording facilities with high acoustic requirements.
BAM was awarded the large PPP Irish Courts Bundle contract in 2015. It comprises seven court buildings with floor areas ranging between 1,350sq.m to 8,500sq.m. The Tender requirements included very stringent acoustic criteria due to the critical aspect acoustics plays in the successful operation of court facilities. Detailed analysis has been undertaken of airborne & impact sound insulation, room acoustics, indoor ambient noise levels and noise emissions from the site to adjacent noise sensitive locations. Special consideration was given to the sound insulation to courtrooms, judge and jury areas due to the inherently confidential nature of activities in these areas. Potential noise from custody areas was also an important factor. The first scheme is being commissioned in April 2017 and all schemes will to be handed over by the end of 2017.
