Featured Projects
We are currently working with Sammon/Carillion Joint Venture on the PPP Schools Bundle 5 contract. The schemes comprises six Primary, Post Primary and Institute of Further Education buildings across four sites in Bray, Carlow, Kells and Wexford.
All buildings are designed in accordance with the Department of Education & Skills technical guidance document TGD-021-5 regarding sound insulation, rooms acoustic and external noise break-in to teaching areas and multi-purpose halls.
The Institute of Further Education also comprises extensive music performance, practice and recording facilities with high acoustic requirements.
As part of an environmental impact assessment for a Port expansion we measured the existing on-shore and underwater noise levels. SoundPlan and dBSea were used to establish predicted noise levels during the construction of the port, which allowed us to detail the mitigation efforts during construction. We modelled the underwater noise impact on local marine wildlife taking into account the local fauna, geography and temporal variation.
In addition to being authors of the Institute of Acoustics Good Practice Guide on Wind Turbine Assessment and advising the Department of Housing, Community and Local Government in the Republic of Ireland in relation to the updates to the Wind Energy Guidelines, current staff in Irwin Carr have provided numerous training sessions and presented paper in relation to the noise assessment of wind turbines.
We have carried out noise assessments under the ETSU-R-97 Guidelines within the UK and Wind Energy Development Guidelines in the Republic of Ireland.
We have been involved in the assessments of some of the largest wind farms on the Island of Ireland at various stages from site selection, through the planning stages and are currently assessing the compliance of numerous site with the conditions on their planning consents.
