Anaerobic Digesters
We have carried out Noise and Air Quality assessment for a number of range of Anaerobic Digestion plants in the UK and Ireland.
Anaerobic digestion (AD) plants produce renewable energy by biologically converting organic wastes into biogas, which is then used to generate electricity, heat, or renewable natural gas. The process is well‑established in agriculture, food processing, and wastewater treatment and is recognised by regulators as a form of renewable energy generation.
As part of the planning and permitting process we have assessed the noise from the operation of the site, as well as the odour and ammonia emissions from the feedstock, running of the engine and handling of digestate.
We have carried out detailed modelling using SoundPLAN and AERMOD, which allows us to assess the impact of the mitigation on the overall noise level and feeding into the design process to value engineer the mitigations required.
