Further to the introduction of the ProPG: Gym Acoustics Guidance in March 2023, Environmental Health Departments now regularly request via their planning consultation responses that gyms assess their noise impact on adjoining properties – both domestic and commercial. 

This involves the dropping of weights at various heights on a range of flooring types to ensure that noise levels within adjoining buildings would not be deemed excessive. 

Irwin Carr are able to provide this service, typically out-of-hours to ensure representative results. 

To date we have completed over 10 assessments utilising the new technique, for a variety of gyms and adjoining buildings.
